Boron is a trace mineral and essential nutrient that is required
in by the body in very small amounts. Boron helps to prevent
osteoporosis by aiding in the construction and maintenance of
healthy bones. It also helps reduce the loss of calcium and
magnesium in urine needed to build strong and healthy bones. Boron
helps to increase levels of serum estrogen and ionized calcium
(Note: Women who develop osteoporosis have low levels of both
estrogen and ionized calcium). Boron also helps maintain normal cell
function and facilitates a variety of necessary enzyme reactions. A
boron deficiency may lead to impaired mental function and depressed
mental alertness.
