Peony (Paeonia
officinalis) is a perennial plant having ternate or
bi-ternate, large ovate leaflets growing 2-3 feet high. The plant
bears large solitary, red or purple-red, flowers which strongly
resemble roses. Flowering time is typically from May to August.
Peony has been used medicinally for its
antispasmodic, diuretuc, and sedative properties. Applications
include jaundice, kidney & bladder problems, gout, asthma
with cramps, and epilepsy.
