Osha (Ligusticum
porteri) was originally used by western Native Americans to
treat colds, flu, and upper respiratory infections. Osha is
purported to be an immune builder, that is, it helps the body
ward off viral infections. It is now sold in combination with
Lomatium root, another reputed immune enhancer used by Native
Americans, in capsule form. As word gets out about Osha's
positive action on the immune system, it will undoubtedly become
as popular as Echinacea, Astragalus, and other well-known herbal
immune boosters.
Osha can be taken in capsule form, 1 capsule up
to 3 times a day, or mix 20 to 30 drops of extract in a liquid up
to 3 times daily.
